Visual Studio 2005 Remote Debugger
I’ve had to do it 2 times so far, and each time i do it i have issues, which could be eliminated, if I saved my notes from the first time. so here goes.
1. from the Visual Studio CD, browse to tools -> remote debugger -> pick the right format and (x86 or x64) and install
2. leave the username as “LocalSystem”, password blank
3. in the IIS manager, right click on the virtual directory, Properties-> Directory Security -> Authentication and access control -> make sure Integrated Windows authentication is checked!!!!
NOTE: don’t forget one must also have FileZilla server, or any other ftp server, installed on the IIS Server to move/save/manipulate files.

LiveCycle cheat sheet

I have just recently plunged into the “not-so-exiting” world of liveCycle. While working with the forms, we’v discovered some bugs.
this post is ment as a mental note to self, as well as a reference for those who have run into similar issues. If you have questions or comments feel free to post.
Limiting visible area on numeric fields.
There are a few ways to do this, you can:
make the field a text field, limit the visible area, or set the max # of characters and use any simple IsNumeric() javascript functions to validate the input. If you want the user to only be able to type in numeric digits, you can use the following:
Request.Wait.Load.
I’ve Never Been Clever ‘Cause Need It Never ÂÂ
This has been a major issue for me for a very long time, and now i see that many people are having the same problem.
 This is what i wanted to do:
- Flex calls a url request to webFocus, which make me a brand new XML file.
- Flex waits for the status of 200(OK)  (or else you get errors saying that the XML does not yet exist)
- Flex loads the XML.
- Voila!

Reading XML at Run-Time

For the Past couple of days i have been trying to find a way to read the XML at Run-Time, and not have to compile and recompile my apps, everytime a little something changes.
So far, there are two methods that do this (that i found).

Starting a new project at work.
A simple app that will display various html pages and pdfs. It needs to be updated (not by me), and be searchable by the user. The search should include searching html pages as well as pdfs.

Internet is usually the first place i go if i have a question or a technical issue of any kind.
Google – what would i do without you?
Flex, however, is pretty new and there are not that many resources out there yet.At work, I’m one of the first pioneers to take up the task, so there’s not that much help there either, and everyone is as clueless as me.
